Rebecca first moved to San Francisco in 1995 from Washington D.C. to pursue graphic design and advertising. Five years later her desire for creative expression led her to explore an alternate career path and she began to further develop the metalsmithing skills she had acquired while studying at Savannah College of Art & Design. Her early collections gained esteem at local shows and boutiques propelling her work into a more refined esthetic. Over the years Rebecca Overmann jewelry has evolved, featuring one-of-a-kind and handmade pieces in her San Francisco studio.
Today, the focus of The Studio remains the same – creative expression fueled by equal parts passion and skill. The goal of Rebecca Overmann jewelry is to create incredibly special pieces for our customers who value thoughtful design and fine craftsmanship. Each piece of jewelry is fashioned from design to completion in our San Francisco studio. This is how it is possible for us to maintain the level of quality and control that we hold ourselves to. Everything we make is produced with the notion that it will be cherished by generations to come.
While I’ve had the honor of working with many fine casters and stone setters through the years, the care and control that we have when it’s done in-house by our own people is irreplaceable.
The pursuit of this ideal has also meant bringing together a group of highly skilled and talented individuals that all share a passion and love for the art and craft of jewelry. “The best part of it for me, is getting to work with such an incredible group — we’ve become a tight-knit family and everyone makes such a huge contribution.”
When you visit our showroom, you’re coming into a working studio. We’re not going to stop hammering, casting or soldering because you’re here — I believe connecting my clients to the process of how their jewelry is made is one of the most important parts of my job.
Rebecca Overmann Jewelry Studio in San Francisco
Working and living in San Francisco is as much a part of the Rebecca Overmann Jewelry Studio as the people. Since its origins in the early days of the Gold Rush, San Francisco has seen many booms and busts, but it has always fostered the creative and entrepreneurial spirit. Having moved to San Francisco in search of opportunity herself, the constant influx of young and driven people is not unfamiliar. “One of the great things about having a studio in San Francisco is I get to work with so many diverse clients — you never know who’s going to walk through the door and hearing each personal story is always so amazing. From teachers to engineers, designers and political figures, the common thread is a strong appreciation for fine design and craft.”
Rebecca Overmann jewelry designs are based in feeling and form, often relying on her wax carving skills to unveil the vision for a piece. Many of the subtleties and textures in her work are a result of this direct hands-on process. Inspirations for her collections often originate from natural forms that are simplified and abstracted, becoming more of an interpretation and expression of form.
For her signature line of engagement and bridal jewelry, Rebecca allows the materials to speak for themselves. There’s no need for overly ornate details — it’s ultimately about allowing the simple forms and remarkable hand-selected stones to speak for themselves. Her love for unique gemstones often requires that a ring be designed completely around the stone, making the piece truly one of a kind. With her training as a metalsmith, Rebecca is able to articulate her designs using old-world techniques — always emphasizing the craft.
The Rebecca Overmann Jewelry Studio is committed to creating an experience that provides familiarity, comfort and luxury to our customer. The jewelry we create is meant to be worn and cherished every day, ultimately becoming a reflection of the wearer’s own personal style.
